Coaches and trainers praise Portolite Game Mounds for practice and play as pitchers pivot to Fall Ball

Two-piece 10” portable baseball pitching mound makes moving from field to field a piece of cake.

Summer baseball leagues and tournaments may be winding down, but Fall Ball is just one pumpkin spice latte away.

That means coaches, trainers, and parents are looking for the best, most durable and safe equipment. They’re looking to gear their growing pitchers to the next level as they throw those practice reps this autumn.

That’s where Portolite’s 8” and 10” Game Mounds come into play.

The handmade mounds are sturdy enough for continuous use – yet light enough to move easily on and off fields. And both sizes come in both one- or two-piece sizes, giving teams additional options for portability and storage.

Jon DeGennaro, director of Lynx Travel Baseball in Klein, Texas, just north of Houston, plans to use only Portolite game mounds in his complex after testing “just about every portable pitching mound on the market.”

“I try products out until I find the ones I like,” he said. “We like the portability of Portolite mounds, we like the durability. It’s a true game mound.”

He launched Lynx Baseball in 2012 with four teams and now has nearly 30, serving players from coach pitch and 9U up to college showcase.

DeGennaro initially bought two 10” Two-Piece Game Mounds and plans to buy more as the Lynx expands.

The mound’s plateau is wide enough for pick-off moves and there’s a gentle slope, something he knew was critical to game experience. There are no “lips” on Portolite’s mounds, so pitchers don’t have to worry about falling or injuring themselves. It’s ideal for both high school and youth players.

The 10” model is regulation for high school play. The 8” mound is more affordable, smaller, and can be used in junior high games or practice for older players.

Every Portolite pitching mound is designed with a full body, high performance poly protected resilient core with fiberglass reinforcement for a solid, cushioned mound that will reduce knee and ankle strain. They are covered with high-quality turf.

The mounds have pitching rubbers with hidden wear pads immediately in front of the rubbers that keep them lasting 10 times as long as the competition.

Turf color options include green, clay, red and tan.

Josh Foxworthy, who organizes hundreds of young baseball players for games and tournaments in Indiana, also praises Portolite game mounds.

“We needed something that would offer the stability our pitchers need,” he said. “I was looking for mounds large enough for a variety of age groups.”

Players at both the Little League and high school play are eager to practice the repetitive throws that will help bring their pitching skills to the next level before the regular season gets into swing in spring.

Portolite Game Mounds can give them the feel of a real game as they make those throws or pitch in fall competitions.

“I plan to order more mounds from Portolite,” Foxworthy said. “We could not be any happier.”
